Do local shops and restaurants accept card payments?

Although debit and credit cards are easy to carry and more convenient than cash, it is a good idea to have some local cash on you when travelling. Most shops and restaurants accept card payments; however, some small local shops and vendors might not accept credit cards. Having some cash also provides a safety net in case there is an issue with your bank account while you are abroad.
