What travel documents are required to travel to your EU destinations?

If you are a UK national travelling to an EU country, you will need a valid passport. Your passport must have been issued within the last ten years and be valid for at least three months beyond your planned return date.

You can usually travel within the Schengen Area for up to 90 days in any 180-day period without a visa for tourism purposes.

ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorisation System)
ETIAS is a new travel authorisation that is expected to be introduced for UK passport holders travelling to most EU countries. Once in place, eligible travellers will need to apply online for ETIAS approval before travelling. The application process is expected to be straightforward and the authorisation will be valid for multiple trips over a set period. ETIAS is not a visa, but a pre-travel security check.

ETIAS is not yet in operation. It is currently expected to be introduced in late 2026, although this may be subject to change.

As entry requirements can change, we strongly recommend checking the latest official UK government travel advice before you travel. If you have any questions or need further assistance, our team will be happy to help.

Please note that requirements for non-UK nationals may differ, and travellers should check independently with their relevant government authorities before travelling.
